The 2005 conference was the first one organised without funding from European institutions and under the new title International Mountain and Outdoor Sports Conference. The themes of the conference were:
- Climbing and bio-medical sciences.
- Mountaineering/climbing and education.
- Mountaineering/climbing and ecology.
- Mountaineering and climbing from a human perspective.
